6. Working Inside if Outside Access is Difficult

Tip: All Venting Plugs MUST vent to the outside. Sometimes it is impossible or near impossible to access a window from the outside. For the defogging process to work the window MUST vent to the outside air in order for it to dry out and stay dried out.

Fully understand the standard glass window defogging process (steps 1 through 4) first. It is the exact same process other than some drilling and venting modifications. The following instructions will only explain the differences without repeating the original instructions and “Tips”.

6.1 Complete the exact same process as in step 1 except you will now drill through both panes of glass from the INSIDE of the property. When drilling through the outside pane be sure to cool, lubricate, and wash it down often, by pulling the drill back and spraying water through the inside pane hole.

6.2 Tip: Make sure ALL the dust is washed down to the bottom of the unit IMMEDIATELY. Do not worry about the water entering the window. It may take quite a bit of flushing to ensure all the dust is washed from the window glass, but if you allow it to dry onto the surface it is almost impossible to remove later.

6.3 After completing steps 1 through 3, step 4 is accomplished exactly the same with the following modification.

6.4 Take the Inside Venting Plugs (longer ones) and push them through the holes leading with the FLAT SIDE of the Inside Venting Plug. Push only far enough so the FLAT SIDE of the Inside Venting Plug is flush with the outside of the outside window pane.

6.5 Mark where the Inside Venting Plug is protruding through the inside of the inside window pane and cut any of the extra off.

6.6 Once the Inside Venting Plug is cut to size, carefully reinstall it and seal around the Inside Venting Plug and the inside window pane with white calking. This will hold it in place and seal it from any inside moist air entering the unit. Well done! If you read the Step by Step Instructions and followed the Tips on Do’s and Don’ts, your window will become totally clear again! Some windows will clear within a few hours, some within a few days, and some can take a couple of months. Variables like the time of year, size of the window, the direction it is facing, and your geographical location, all contribute to how quickly the window will completely clear and regain its original R-Value. The double paned window will now remain totally clear for years!
