3. Sealing the Bottom Spacer Bar (Optional)

3.1 Tip: Sealing the bottom spacer bar is a precautionary measure (optional). It prevents moisture ingress from the bottom spacer bar and prevents moisture accumulation within the desiccant of the bottom spacer bar as a window seal repair. If your window had only small amounts of fogging before you began the defogging process, the venting of the window in the following steps (4.0), will most likely keep it clear. If however, your window had excessive amounts of fogging and mineral deposits, this would be a good step to complete. In any event, sealing of the bottom spacer bar can be completed now, or any time in the future if you notice your window is not staying completely clear.

3.2 Half fill the spacer bar desiccant sealer applicator with the spacer bar desiccant sealant. Simply insert the nozzle into the bottom hole and squeeze the bottle until there is enough to cover across the bottom spacer bar. Allow time for the sealer to run across the bar before injecting more. Try not to spray the sealant onto the glass.

At this point, the window will now need time to vent the surplus moisture out of the unit that is trapped in the top and side spacer bars, and for the sealer to dry. Tip: You can speed up this process by not installing the venting plugs until a later date. This will allow more ventilation (larger venting holes). However, it may also allow bugs and dust to enter your window.
